Technology Overview
Thermal imagers detect targets by sensing temperature differentials (Delta‑T) between an object and its surroundings. DeltaZero’s approach is a flexible, multi‑layer composite designed to reduce the apparent thermal contrast while remaining quiet, low‑glint, and practical to drape over complex shapes.
Why simple reflective sheets fail
- Noise: thin metallic films can crinkle and transmit sound during movement.
- Hot spots: direct contact can create localized thermal “print‑through.”
- Glint: specular reflections can be visually conspicuous.
Composite architecture (high‑level)
- Insulating foam core that acts as a thermal break to reduce conductive transfer and help mitigate hot‑spot formation.
- Radiant barrier layer that reflects radiant energy (low‑emissivity behavior) rather than re‑radiating outward.
- Visual suppression interface (matte film or coating concept) to reduce specular optical reflection from the barrier.
- Reticulated overlay (macroporous grid concept) to disrupt outline continuity, retain natural debris, and help maintain a convective standoff air gap.
Flexibility & low‑noise bonding concept
Where layers must be joined, the design uses discontinuous bonding patterns (limited contact area) to preserve flexibility and reduce acoustic transmission between layers.
Configurable build families
- Wet / maritime: closed‑cell core options intended to resist water uptake and tolerate ground contact.
- Silent / breathable: open‑cell core options intended to improve airflow and acoustic absorption for quieter movement.
- Durable / encapsulated: sandwich constructions intended to protect the barrier layer within foam.
